The 5 Verses You Need To Know About God's Angels
A few months ago, right after Mass, I was chatting with my kids about what they had learned that day in their children’s church class. As our conversation went on, we started talking about God’s angels — who they are, what they do, and how we might recognize them when they’re guiding us.
That little family discussion got me thinking more deeply. The Bible has so much to say about angels, and through those scriptures, we can actually learn more about God Himself. You see, understanding God’s angels helps us understand something about the very nature and character of God.
So today, I’d like to invite you to walk with me through Scripture — using the New King James Version — as we explore the story, the purpose, and the defining of God’s angels. Together, we’ll discover how they reveal something powerful about who God is by defining God’s Angels.
Knowing About God’s Angels

As we have established in earlier writings, God is ONLY GOOD, as stated in Genesis 1:31 “And God saw that all He has created was VERY GOOD.” Also, that marked the end of creation. This means that there is no other time where God came back to create anything other than good.
It's then fitting that the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews(IFCJ) would define God’s Angels as messengers of good or God. It wrote; “The most common Hebrew word for angels is malachim, which can also mean “messengers.” Angels are God’s messengers, His army of helpers, charged with guiding, protecting, challenging, and helping human beings.”
We don't have to be christians to be interested in the knowledge of God’s Angels. For example, Tamanna in the Times of India defines God’s Angels as coming to as through higher energies of Intuitions, inner voices, and dreams.
“Sometimes we get messages through dreams, intuitions, inner voices, or unexpected messages. Angels have different ways of communicating indirectly;” Wrote Tamanna. Now, remember — God’s angels are His messengers. They don’t always speak to us through thunder or lightning; sometimes, they reach us through that quiet inner prompting, that nudge we feel deep within. The Bible gives us several verses that show how angels deliver God’s messages and what those messages often contain.
Interestingly, even outside the Bible — in sources like the Times of India — descriptions of angels or divine messengers sound strikingly similar to what we find in Scripture. For instance, in Genesis 28:12, we read about Jacob’s dream — a vision of angels ascending and descending on a ladder between heaven and earth. It’s a beautiful picture of how God’s messages move between the divine and the human realm, between heaven and the heart.
Genesis 28:12; “Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. To explain further, verse 13 added; “ And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: “I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.” We can see that in the case above, the message is information, or guidance.
God’s Angels can come to us as a vision as explained in the delivery of the message about the birth of Jesus by an angel named Gabriel. The content of the message is information and hope to despairing Virgin Mary.
Luke 1:30; “Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.”
Daniel 6:22; “My god sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before him; and also, o king, I have done no wrong before you.” In this verse, we learn how God’s angels came as a compassion on the side of the lions to deliver protection to an innocent man. The king was surprised to find how the lions had not torn him into pieces.
The message above is also the same message we find in Exodus 23:20 where God’s Angels come as a powerful invisible shield and serve as protectors.

Exodus 23:20; “Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.” That message of protection is also echoed by Jesus in Matthew 28:20 where He promised to always be with us till the end of time. “Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age;” Jesus Said.
ow, you and I may not see Jesus standing before us in physical form, but that doesn’t mean He’s absent. The message of faith reminds us that His Spirit — and even the presence of His angels — is always with us, as long as we choose to stay aligned with God and with good. That’s really what it means to live out His commandments: to walk in step with the Spirit of Christ.
Sometimes we hear teachers say that God’s angels are somehow above us — that they are higher beings, greater in nature. But remember what Jesus Himself said. He reminded us that we, too, are children of God, just as He is. So ask yourself: is an angel greater than Jesus? Of course not. And if that’s true, then angels aren’t higher than you or me either — unless we choose to lower ourselves by forgetting who we truly are in God.
Jesus made this truth crystal clear in John 10:34 when He said, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”’?” He was quoting Psalm 82:6, where it says, “I said, ‘You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High.’” Think about that — that revelation was spoken long before Jesus came in the flesh, yet He reaffirmed it to remind us of our divine identity and connection to the Father.
Therefore, the angel reaffirmed this equality in
Revelation 22:9; “Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”
So now, the choice is ours — to recognize that God’s angels are simply messengers of good. They bring God’s goodness to us in so many forms: through service, through information or guidance, through the fulfillment of our needs, and through protection.
I remember telling my children that day, “Anything or anyone that does you good is an angel — no matter what that person or thing may have done in the past, or what they might become in the future.” And I believe that’s true. Because when we look at Scripture, that’s exactly what we find — God’s messengers showing up in ordinary moments, through ordinary people, to carry out divine purposes.
So here’s the message for you today: goodness is always happening in the present moment. Action only ever exists now. When someone shows compassion, offers help, gives guidance that brings us back toward what’s right, or provides protection — in that moment, they are acting as God’s angel. They’ve become a vessel, a willing participant in delivering the message and work of God.
And, Now Knowing God’s Angels

Since God’s angels can come to us in any form — visible or invisible — recognizing them begins with paying attention to God’s commandments, just as Jesus reminded us. It’s about training our hearts to notice anyone or anything that’s carrying out the good works of God in our lives.
To grow in this awareness, we need to cultivate a higher level of consciousness — the kind of spiritual sensitivity that angels themselves operate in. This happens through intuition, that quiet inner voice, and through the simple, daily habit of thinking and doing good.
And here’s the key word: practice. We can’t truly know something until we’ve experienced it. Experience doesn’t come through talking about it — it comes through doing. When we choose to act, even in small ways, we open ourselves to the grace of experiencing the presence of God’s angels at work around us.
If we truly want to recognize those divine deliveries — those blessings and protections that angels constantly bring — then we must stay closely aligned with what is good. That alignment opens the intuitive channels of our spirit, allowing us to sense and receive the heavenly guidance God is always sending our way.
In here, I’ll share some practical techniques to help you strengthen that awareness and connection.
Until then, may God bless you richly — and please, stay connected. Share your thoughts, your questions, and your stories, so together we can grow closer to the beautiful work of God’s angels in our everyday lives.
